Leeds United respond to £25m Everton bid for Willy Gnonto
Willy Gnonto is waiting for Everton to raise their bid for him after Leeds United rejected the Merseyside club’s £25million offer, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Italian outlet published in their print edition (17 August, pg 19) that the 19-year-old wants to leave the club and trains alone with Luis Sinisterra, but the Toffees must increase their bid if they want to secure the winger after the Whites rejected a £25million bid.
Sky Sports reported (16 August, 15:38) on their live transfer blog that Sean Dyche’s side had made a £25million bid for Gnonto, but this fresh report suggests they may have to go back in.

On and on
Everton fans will be frustrated by the slow pace of this transfer. While Leeds are within their right to command a high fee for Gnonto, £25million seems fair for a player with one season and two goals in the Premier League.
The Toffees will be buying Gnonto based on potential too, having already cracked his way into the senior Italy men’s side and shown real signs of excellence last season.
However, if Everton are really keen to get their man, they may want to consider other options. As the transfer window slowly ticks away, Leeds seem to be taking their time to agree a fee.
As Gnonto refuses to play for the club, it would make sense for the Whites to offload him as soon as possible, with Everton seemingly the only genuine option.
Dyche will be looking to add goals to his side following their tough but chance-heavy clash in their opening Premier League clash against Fulham.
In other Everton news, a fresh twist has emerged in the Toffees’ search for a new goalkeeper.
