Southampton reject £12m Everton bid for Che Adams, fresh Willy Gnonto bid being prepared
Everton have seen a £12m bid rejected by Southampton for striker Che Adams, while they prepare an improved offer for Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto, according to talkSPORT.
The radio station provided an update via Twitter (19 August), reporting that the Toffees’ offer for the 27-year-old striker had been turned down by the Saints.
Sean Dyche’s side “remain keen to sign Adams and are also preparing a fresh offer for Leeds winger Willy Gnonto.” Officials at Goodison Park have already seen multiple offers rejected for Gnonto.
Leeds’ 19-year-old forward handed in a written transfer request at Elland Road, after having refused to play for the club on multiple occasions, as per David Ornstein (18 August).
Busy
It seems as if the club are doing everything they can in the final weeks of this transfer window to provide Dyche with some fresh attacking options after last season’s disappointment. Only Wolves scored fewer Premier League goals than the Merseyside club and it was their troubles in front of goal which almost saw them relegated.
Supporters will be hopeful of avoiding a third consecutive relegation dogfight and the signings of Gnonto and Adams would go a long way in helping them to do that. Both players were standout performers for their clubs during relegation campaigns last season and will be keen to get back to the Premier League.

Adams scored five goals and provided three assists in a side that struggled massively last year, finishing rock bottom of England’s top flight. Meanwhile, Gnonto scored two goals and laid on four assists in his debut season in the league, an impressive return for a young player in difficult circumstances.
It is time now for those at Goodison to pay up and get the two deals across the line.
