Dominic Calvert-Lewin must now follow FA protocols as Everton injury update emerges

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin must follow the Football Association’s (FA) concussion protocols before returning to action from injury, according to BBC Sport.

The publication reported on its website on Monday (21 August) that the forward fractured his cheekbone in the match against Aston Villa on Sunday (20 August).

The 26-year-old was taken off by manager Sean Dyche in the 38th minute of the match following a collision with Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

Massive blow

The latest injury news regarding Calvert-Lewin really is a massive blow for the entire club, coming just when the striker was working his way back to full fitness.

His injury issues are well-known at this stage, with the forward constantly spending time on the sidelines with various problems.

The new injury will be even more infuriating as it is not a muscle issue, for example, with his clash with Martinez sheer bad luck.

The striker was just doing his best for the team and indeed for himself as went for the ball at Villa Park, but he will now regret making that decision after coming off much worse in the collision with Martinez.

Everton manager Dyche needs all the help he can get this season, with the Toffees now losing their first two matches of the new Premier League campaign.

But it is a task that has been made so much more difficult with the latest Calvert-Lewin setback.
