Everton transfer news as behind-the-scenes claim emerges with Tom Cannon linked with exit

Nobody behind the scenes at Everton is happy with how striker Tom Cannon’s exit is being handled, according to Alan Nixon.

The newspaper journalist reported on Sunday (20 August) that he’s unaware if the 20-year-old is pushing for a move away from Goodison Park.

ChronicleLive reported on 16 August that he was set to join Preston but that move has not gone through, as things stand.

Via Twitter, Nixon wrote, “Not aware (if he’s pushing for a move) but nobody would be happy with how this is being handled.”

Give him his move

It’s evident that Cannon is not ready to handle the goal-scoring responsibilities at Goodison Park this season.

He’s perhaps fifth in the striker pecking order with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Youssef Chermiti, Neal Maupay and Lewis Dobbin all ahead of him.

That shows that Sean Dyche does not have him in his plans for the next 12 months so showing him the door would make sense.

He can get valuable first-team experience in the Championship and that will help him next season and perhaps put him higher up in the pecking order.

Nothing at Everton happens seamlessly and that’s one of the main reasons why the club is in the mess that they find themselves in.

Decisions need to be made quickly and this season has to be the start of them moving in the right direction.

In other Everton news, a first-team player linked with a Premier League rival club may now force his Goodison Park exit unless Sean Dyche axes a senior man.
