Journalist advises Che Adams to avoid ‘risky’ Everton move

Che Adams should avoid making the switch from Southampton to Everton this season as the two clubs could swap places next season, according to Ryan Taylor.

As per The Telegraph (20 August), 27-year-old Adams is preparing to make an instant return to the Premier League after being relegated with Southampton last season, as the Saints finished rock bottom.

The newspaper reported online that the Toffees are closing in on a £15million deal for the striker, and Daily Express journalist Taylor believes this might be a mistake.

Everton

“I think he would be a great asset to Southampton if he were to stay. If I was Adams, I would stay because I think joining Everton right now is a risky move,” Taylor told GIVEMESPORT (21 August).

“There’s no reason why, in 12 months, Everton won’t be a Championship club and Southampton couldn’t be back in the Premier League.

“I think he needs to rebuild that confidence because he’s not had the best Premier League goalscoring record since joining Southampton, so I don’t see that as a great move for him.”

Speculation

Taylor does make a point. Adams isn’t making a transfer to a Premier League high-flyer and there is a chance that Sean Dyche’s side could find themselves in the Championship next season, while Southampton win promotion back to the Premier League and swap places with the Merseyside club.

However, football isn’t played on probabilities, and the fact of the matter is that right now Everton are in the Premier League, while the Saints are not. Adams only has a finite amount of time in his career and can’t wait around on the likelihood that his current club get promoted.

Everton

If he has a chance to make a move to England’s top flight, it is understandable that he would want to jump at the opportunity. Not only would it be a good move for him, but it would be a brilliant one for Everton. The club are in desperate need of a striker and Adams is one with plenty of experience in English football.

In other Everton news, a player desperate to leave his club could be on the radar of the Toffees.
