Lewis Dobbin shares Everton verdict after disappointment v Aston Villa
Everton striker Lewis Dobbin has revealed he doesn’t feel out of place in the Premier League and is hoping for more game time as his club continues to struggle for goals.
Dobbin has received praise from Sean Dyche for his hard work in training as he looks to make an impact on the first team at Everton and earn himself more Premier League opportunities.
The club are in the process of getting a £15million deal for Southampton striker Che Adams over the line [The Telegraph, 20 August], but Dobbin believes he can keep improving and take the chances when they are afforded to him.

Speaking to the club’s official website on 22 August, Dobbin stated: “On a personal note, it’s a positive to be getting more minutes in the Premier League, but as a team, and as a collective, we were not at it against Aston Villa. We’ve got to go into this week with our heads held high and hopefully go again.
“Obviously, the main thing is the result and how the team has performed. So that was disappointing. But on a personal note, I didn’t feel out of place when I was out there. That’s a positive. But now I need to keep improving and getting more minutes.
“I just need to keep working hard on the training pitch and trying to impress the Gaffer. Hopefully, I keep getting chances and when I do, I have got to take them. But that’s down to me to get more.”

Chances may be limited, but he could take them
When the club are staring down the barrel of yet another relegation fight, it can be difficult to give substantial minutes to young players, particularly strikers with goals at Premier League level at such a premium, risks can’t afford to be taken.
Dobbin, however, remains confident that when the chances do fall to him, he will be able to take them and impress his boss. The attacker has played 51 minutes already this season as Everton’s striker issues continue and will be hopeful of earning further opportunities.
The possible arrival of Adams would cause issues, and it would be the current Southampton man, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Neal Maupay and new signing Youssef Chermiti ahead of Dobbin for the striker positions, while Dyche’s use of deeper wingers would limit his impact out wide.
Clearly, the youngster is highly ambitious and wants to prove himself at Everton, the club he calls “home”, as he also revealed how he has loved being back at the club he has been with his whole life.
