Surgery claim shared as Everton star Dominic Calvert-Lewin faces setback ahead of Wolves – Injury Expert

Everton attacker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is in contention to take on Wolves after a facial injury against Aston Villa, according to Ben Dinnery.

The injury expert reported on Tuesday (22 August) that the concussion protocols will be followed and a surgery may also be on the cards for the England international.

The severity of the fracture and whether or not he’ll require a face mask to return may also delay his return to the first team.

Dinnery wrote on Twitter, “Further assessments confirm Calvert-Lewin sustained a fractured cheekbone in the collision with Emi Martinez and the striker is following the Football Association’s concussion protocols.

“Under these guidelines, DCL could potentially be available to face Wolves, but the proposed treatment plan – whether surgery will be required – the type of fracture and the possibility of needing a customised facemask will delay his return to play.”

Can’t catch a break

This one wasn’t a muscle injury so he can hardly be blamed for it and he was just caught in the wrong place at the wrong time.

One thing Calvert-Lewin can’t catch is a break and if he’s got to undergo surgery, there’s a possibility of him not being fit for the game.

Hopefully, he recovers sooner rather than later and the right protocols are taken before he’s allowed to return.

There is great data that shows the adverse long-term effects of concussions so it’s best if he sits out a game for his own good.

Everton desperately need firepower and their signings thus far have not been good enough so more reinforcements are needed.

It remains to be seen who they end up signing from now until the end of the window as a lot of areas need to be addressed.

In other Everton news, a first-team player linked with a Premier League rival club may now force his Goodison Park exit unless Sean Dyche axes a senior man.
