Alex Iwobi shares cryptic message after injury in Everton loss v Aston Villa
Alex Iwobi has sent a message on social media following his injury for Everton against Aston Villa in the 4-0 defeat.
The winger tweeted (23 August) an empowering message after sustaining a hamstring injury on Sunday (20 August) which resulted in him being replaced by Neal Maupay in the 56th minute.
The Nigerian, according to the Daily Post (21 August), was tested on Monday to determine the extent of the injury but Sean Dyche is not confident in an immediate return.
Iwobi said: “Minor Setbacks For Major Comebacks, So They Say…”
Hopeful
While it is currently unclear how long Iwobi will be sidelined from the Everton side, his cryptic message could give Toffees fans hope it won’t be too long.
Calling his injury a “minor setback” suggests that he may not face months and months out. Still, Everton fans will want him back as soon as possible as the club attempts to switch their fortunes following back-to-back losses in their opening Premier League games.
Dyche’s comments would not have filled them with much confidence. As quoted by the Daily Post (21 August), he said: ”Alex we’re waiting on, but it looks like a hamstring injury.

The Goodison Park faithful will be keen to hear an update as Iwobi has been a rare highlight in a poor Everton side so far this season.
Against Fulham, the 27-year-old produced three key passes, four accurate long-balls and two shots on target, showing his influence in the attack and the significance of his absence. [SofaScore]
In other Everton news, the Toffees could “hijack” Fulham’s attempts to secure a Chelsea winger.
