Everton in advanced talks to sign Udinese striker Beto after £22.2m bid tabled
Everton are in advanced talks with Udinese to sign striker Beto after a £22.2m bid was tabled, according to a report by O Jogo.
Writing on their official website (24 August), the Portuguese newspaper report tha the Toffees made an opening bid for the Brazilian striker worth around £22.2m but the Serie A club want more.
Beto has a £30m release clause in his contract, and Sean Dyche has identified him as an ideal option to lead the line and provide competition for Dominic Calvert-Lewin up front at Goodison Park.

“Everton are in advanced talks with an initial proposal between 25 and 26 million euros for the Portuguese striker, but Udinese hopes to receive more,” they wrote.
“After two seasons in Italy, Beto could be on the verge of heading to the Premier League.”
Strong
The interest in Beto has been well documented at this point and it seems the club have finally decided to make that interest more concrete.
A new striker is needed desperately before the transfer window closes next week and after a move for Wilfried Gnonto hit the skids and a deal for Che Adams seemingly can’t be agreed, Beto is the man we’re turning to.

But with his release clause being so close to what we’re bidding it seems highly unlikely that they’d accept much less than that, and with time running out Everton need to make a decision on if they’re just going to pay up or not.
We don’t have the time to dither around in the market at this point, it needs to get done and quickly. Dyche knows it, the fans know it and anyone with eyes can see it.
Beto is open to the move and would offer the physical presence up front we need, so if the club is serious about avoiding another relegation battle this season then it’s time to pay up.
