Everton supporters should be frustrated and worried following Sean Dyche transfer comments
Sean Dyche was inevitably asked about the latest Everton transfer news during his pre-Wolves news conference on Thursday [24 August].
After confirming Dominic Calvert-Lewin, the Toffees’ only top-class striker when he is actually available – will miss the game, focus turned to the subject of new signings.
“They don’t come cheap or walk in here for nothing,” Dyche told reporters.

“You need to find ways of constructing deals that another club would agree to, a player would agree to and an agent would agree to.”
Beyond stating the obvious with regards to how transfers work, Dyche effectively said that Everton want to sign new players, but it is not happening for reasons out of their control.
Those comments came in the wake of suggestions that deals for Beto and Che Adams – the latter seemingly a formality at one point – are now “highly unlikely” to go through [Graeme Bailey].
Everton supporters therefore have every right to be concerned and frustrated in equal measure, given the transfer window closes in a little over a week’s time.
Concerned at the prospect of finally being relegated from the Premier League this season after numerous near misses; frustrated at being told that signing a new player is not easy to do.

A reminder that the Merseyside outfit have had three months to bring in a striker – one with more proven pedigree than Youssef Chermiti – and yet here they are with a week to go scrambling to get a deal over the line.
This is not a one-off, either. This has now been the case for the past few summers, with false promises made and a ton of disappointment following.
On the back of beating Bournemouth on the final day of last season to save their top-flight status by the skin of their teeth, Dyche stated that “the work on next season started the day I got in here”.
As the experienced campaigner is finding out, long-term planning and Everton Football Club do not go hand in hand.
In other Everton news, Southampton have reportedly named their price for Toffees target Adams.
