Martin Keown rages at Everton ‘mess’ as new Bramley-Moore Dock verdict shared
Martin Keown has been left fuming at the current position Everton find themselves in as he shared his verdict on the new Bramley-Moore Dock stadium.
Speaking on the BBC’s Football Focus Show on 26 August, the pundit said the club are in a “mess”, but he backed Sean Dyche to guide the Toffees to Premier League safety again this season.
The former Blues defender added that remaining in the top flight is “imperative” if the club want to complete the development of the Bramley-Moore Dock facility.
“It’s a mess and he (Dyche) has got to try and repair it, but I do still feel he’s the man for the job,” said Keown.
“I think they can stay in the Premier League and I think it’s a case of the resources that come in, the revenue over the next few years, staying in the Premier League is imperative so they can finish the stadium and they can move to the promised land with this new stadium and build from there.
“But at the moment, I’m not sure where the wins are coming from.”
Tough times
It’s an extremely tough time to be associated with Everton because Keown is right in his assessment that the club are in a mess at the moment.
Although Keown only spent a few years at Goodison Park and is predominantly known for his time at Arsenal, he clearly cares about the Blues and shares the fans’ frustrations.
Dyche proved last season that he is the right man to keep the Toffees in the Premier League while operating under tricky circumstances, but that isn’t a position a club of their size should be in.

It is crucial that they remain in the top flight before moving into the new stadium because a relegation down to the Championship could put the development in doubt due to the hit it could provide to the finances.
There is no doubt that a club with such a rich history and its loyal fanbase deserve so much more than is currently being served up, but that situation doesn’t look likely to change any time soon.
