Beto move to Everton to be official within days, formal steps left to conclude – Fabrizio Romano

Udinese striker Beto’s move to Everton is set to be officially announced next week, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The journalist reported (27 August) that the 25-year-old agreed to his move to the Premier League on Saturday (26 August), with just a medical and “formal steps” left before the move to done.

Romano claimed (26 August) that the Toffees will pay £25.7million to the Serie A side and the medical is set to take place on Sunday (27 August).

Absolutely essential

Everton are in desperate need of a striker. With Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s role in the squad this season unknown amid his continuing injury issues and Neal Maupay’s frequent poor form, someone is needed to help out up top.

Arnaut Danjuma has looked mildly effective since his arrival but will rue his missed chance against Wolves on Saturday when he beat the goalkeeper and smashed the post in the first.

Meanwhile, Youssef Chermiti looks to be a good prospect, but no one can expect such a young and inexperienced player to fix Everton’s deep attacking issues.

Everton

Enter Beto. Everton fans will hope he answers their increasingly desperate prayers, but Romano’s update will give them reassurance that his announcement is imminent.

For Udinese, the 25-year-old netted 10 times in 34 games and has already got off the mark this season in a 4-1 Coppa Italia victory against Serie B side US Catanzaro 1929.

Beto probably played his final game for the Bianconeri in a 3-0 defeat to Juventus as his move to the Premier League edges closer and closer.

With a significant price tag weight heavy on his mind, Beto will need to come to Goodison firing if Everton want to get out of their slump. Chances are being provided for the Toffees and they currently rank eighth in the league for total shots with 43, bettering the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool and West Ham United. If Beto can prove a more clinical option than what Sean Dyche already has to work with, then Everton should find themselves away from the dreaded bottom three.
