Everton transfer news as Gianluca Di Marzio shares Nico Elvedi update
Everton have opened talks to secure the services of Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Nico Elvedi, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Sky Sports journalist reported on Sunday (27 August) that the Toffees are keen on bringing in a defender this summer and the 26-year-old Switzerland international is an option.
Jarrad Branthwaite started ahead of Michael Keane on Saturday but that did not stop Sean Dyche’s side from losing their straight game.
Via Twitter, Di Marzio wrote, “Everton in negotiation for Nico Elvedi of Borussia Monchengladbach.”
Get him in
The Toffees have started the season abysmally and unless and until there are major changes made, this side appears destined for relegation.
It looked evident even last season but Dyche managed to get his players to punch above their weight and somehow get over the finishing line.
To expect the same this time without any backing is a bit of a stretch as most teams around them have already strengthened.

The Toffees are yet to sign a new striker and hopefully, the Beto one goes through without any hassles although that seems to be done and dusted.
Elvedi will be a good option at the back and he’s a full Switzerland international who even featured at the World Cup last year.
He will strengthen this eleven and hopefully, they manage to get this deal done sooner rather than later.
In other Everton news, a first-team player linked with a Premier League rival club may now force his Goodison Park exit unless Sean Dyche axes a senior man.
