Fabrizio Romano: Beto on Merseyside for Everton medical, personal terms agreed
Udinese striker Beto is on Merseyside to undergo a medical with Everton, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Sunday morning (27 August), Romano reported that the Blues have agreed to pay at least £25.7million for 25-year-old Beto, who looks set to sign with the Premier League club imminently.
Romano signed off his tweet by saying, “here we go”, meaning that the deal is as good as done and Sean Dyche will be adding a new striker to his squad after personal terms were agreed on a long-term contract.
Beto than what we have?
It’s fair to say that after the dismal start to the season we’ve had, it’s not too hard for Everton to make improvements to the squad.
But this is a significant deal as over £25million is being paid for Beto so Kevin Thelwell and co must be confident that the Portuguese striker can be a hit at Goodison Park.
Our whole season – and very future – could depend on this transfer.
It’s such a costly one but we don’t see how Beto would start if Dominic Calvert-Lewin was fully fit and ready to play every week.

Dyche might want to play with two strikers up front and while that could help us out in terms of getting goals, it would no doubt weaken us defensively and perhaps give opponents more time and space in the middle of the park.
Beto scored 10 times in 33 Serie A appearances last season, which isn’t bad for a mid-table club like Udinese.
If he mimics those numbers at Goodison this term, we’ll be surprised.
Ideally, he needs to get at least 12 or 13 to help us stay up.
