Everton set to seal Beto transfer, announcement could come Monday night – Alan Myers
Everton should announce the signing of Beto by Tuesday morning (29 August) if not earlier with the striker set to complete his move, according to Alan Myers.
The Sky Sports journalist responded via Twitter Monday evening (28 August) to a question about the Portuguese’s medical and was unsure whether it had already been completed, but gave an expected timeframe for an announcement of later the same night or the following morning.
The Udinese man travelled to Merseyside over the weekend with a medical started on Sunday, ahead of a move which is set to cost £20million plus add-ons.
He is expected to be in the Everton squad in good time for the next Premier League game against Sheffield United next weekend (2 September), but whether he is available for the midweek meeting with Doncaster (30 August) is unclear.
Any time
Everton fans have learned not to count their chickens on transfers until the announcement is made so the final step is always the crucial one.
There has been no indication of late hitches so far, which is just as well because there is precious little time left to find yet another good-value alternative and get it over the line with the deadline fast approaching.
Beto will arrive with major expectations on his shoulders thanks to the long-standing attacking issues at Goodison Park, and the hope is that he can provide a new scoring threat while helping bring others into play as a target man.

If he can do then he will be worth every penny of what has to be considered a major fee for a club operating under tight financial conditions.
With Dominic Calvert-Lewin again out Sean Dyche needs someone who can come in and lead the line straight away, with Neal Maupay overlooked for all of Arnaut Danjuma, Lewis Dobbin, Youssef Chermiti, Tom Cannon, and Micheal Keane against Wolves on Saturday.
That group includes a winger, three as-yet relatively unproven young forwards, and a centre-back, and shows the need for an experienced new number nine is as pressing as ever.
In other Everton news, the Toffees want to get into a late “fight” for another in-demand attacking signing before the deadline.
