Joao Virginia sends two-word message to Beto after Everton confirmed transfer news

Everton goalkeeper Joao Virginia has sent Beto a two-word message after the striker completed his move to the club.

The Toffees have signed the 25-year-old forward from Serie A club Udinese, as per the official Everton website (29 August).

The Portuguese striker joins the Merseyside outfit on a four-year contract until the end of June 2027, having scored one goal for Udinese this season.

Welcoming the player to the club, the official Everton Instagram account posted: “Welcome, Beto!”

Also sending Beto a warm welcome to the club was Toffees goalkeeper Virginia, who commented: “Welcome brother.”

Much-needed striker

Everton have been busy this summer, with manager Sean Dyche bringing five new players to the club following the exits of the likes of Yerry Mina, Conor Coady and Tom Davies.

Beto has become the fifth new face at Goodison Park in the current transfer window, joining Ashley Young, Arnaut Danjuma, Youssef Chermiti and Jack Harrison.

And it is the new man who perhaps has the most pressure on his shoulders given the club’s miserable start to the new season. The Toffees sit rock bottom after their three matches, having lost to Fulham, Aston Villa and Wolves.

But more worrying than the results themselves have been the absence of goals, with Dyche’s men yet to score this season.

Chermiti and Danjuma have so far failed to find the back of the net in their brief time in blue, while star striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin is once again sidelined with an injury issue.

In other Everton news, West Ham have matched a £30million+ Toffees bid to sign a new forward.
