Lewis Dobbin stunned by ‘Monster’ Beto after Everton transfer news
Lewis Dobbin has been left impressed by new Everton signing Beto after his first training session, describing the Portuguese forward as a “monster.”
The Toffees added the striker to their forward line for a reported £25.75m on Tuesday (Sky Sports, 29 August) as they continue the hunt for their first Premier League goal this season, the only club still yet to score in the top flight.
Sean Dyche has desperately needed attacking reinforcement this summer, but the dire financial situation at Goodison Park has made adding forward options difficult up until now.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo on Wednesday (30 August) Dobbin said: “Beto had his first session today, and he looked in good shape. A pretty obvious strength is his physical presence – he’s a bit of a monster compared to me.
“He’ll definitely bring a different strength to our team that we can work off, and he’s another aerial threat that adds to our team. He’s looking very sharp and in great shape, so hopefully we can get him involved soon.”
Problem solved?
Everton need goals from their strikers, it’s that simple. Without Dominic Calvert-Lewin fit they don’t have enough sources of goals in their team to be a competitive side in the Premier League and hopefully, Beto will help that cause.
He has an impressive goalscoring record in Serie A, managing to hit double figures in his last two seasons and with his imposing physical frame he will cause problems for defences in the Premier League once he is integrated into the Toffees’ team.

If the impression he has left on his teammates is carried into matches, he could well help those around him become more successful as well, with his “monster” like size likely to occupy defenders and allow Everton’s other forwards to find more space.
The “different strength” that Dobbin has noted will also be key, as Dyche’s sides typically can be slightly one-dimensional, especially when in a difficult patch of form, so hopefully Beto will be the start of some more positivity at Goodison Park.
