Don Hutchison blown away by Beto after forward makes Everton debut against Doncaster

Don Hutchison was blown away by new Everton forward Beto after he made his debut in the Carabao Cup victory over Doncaster Rovers on Wednesday (30 August).

The pundit took to Twitter on 30 August to praise the “brilliant” 25-year-old, who came off the bench to score the equaliser and spark the Blues’ late comeback in their 2-1 win over the League Two side.

The former Toffees midfielder said the Portuguese forward was a “cracking signing” as he was “playing like he owned the place” despite only making the move from Udinese on Tuesday (29 August).

“Beto has not only been brilliant himself, but he is playing like he owns the place,” said TNT pundit Hutchison. “Which then lifts everyone around him. Also, the target man he is, makes others join in because they trust him! Cracking signing.”

Great start

It was a great start for Beto in an Everton shirt as he backed up why the club were so keen to sign him following his cameo off the bench against Doncaster.

Although the game was only against a struggling League Two side, it’s always difficult to come into a new club and make your debut just a day after signing.

He couldn’t have made a better impression in front of the travelling Blues fans, as he took his goal superbly, running in behind the defence and calmly slotting the ball past the keeper.

Everton

It was also the first goal the Toffees have managed to score this season after failing to find the back of the net in their opening three games of the campaign.

The Portuguese will no doubt be pushing for a place in the starting lineup for the game at Sheffield United on Saturday (2 September), where he will be hoping to build upon his strong start to life on Merseyside.

In other Everton news, one club will have to present an imaginative offer if they want to sign a Blues forward.
