Alex Iwobi offer sheet goes in as Everton transfer to Fulham set to be announced – Sky Sports’ Alan Myers
A deal sheet has gone in to ensure Alex Iwobi’s transfer from Everton to Fulham will go ahead after the deadline, according to Alan Myers.
The Sky Sports journalist reported in the final minutes before the window shut on 1 September that the move “will be announced soon” for the Nigeria international to leave the Toffees.
Iwobi had headed to west London for a medical earlier on Friday ahead of a £22million move to Craven Cottage [Sky Sports].
Iwobi had long been expected to sign a contract extension at points over the past 18 months but eventually decided he would not, so the club have cashed in as his current deal enters the final 12 months.
Gone
It is undoubtedly a disappointment after the development that the 27-year-old had shown in the past couple of years for him to now become the latest high-profile departure.
The money is fairly good for a player who had less than a year left on his contract but a sale at this point clearly wasn’t part of the long-term plan.
With Everton failing in a deadline day return for Leeds United’s Willy Gnonto, as well as being unable to follow through on their interest in Southampton’s Kamaldeen Sulemana it means Sean Dyche is a man down.

It has to go down as a deadline day to forget, especially when there was thought to be the possibility the Toffees might have a number of signings on the way.
Missing out on any further additions while still losing a key man late in the day isn’t the confidence boost that Dyche, or the fans, will have been hoping for.
But if Iwobi wasn’t going to sign a new deal there was probably few alternatives, and with Beto signed in the final week there have still been some late positives.
