Darren Bent shares Everton transfer verdict after late Beto deal signed
Darren Bent thinks new Everton striker Beto could be the answer to the club’s goalscoring woes after he impressed on his debut against Doncaster Rovers.
The former Premier League man was previewing the weekend clash against Sheffield United, where he discussed the Merseyside club’s struggles in front of goals, with none yet scored in the Premier League.
Everton had failed to score in any of their opening three games this season but overcame Doncaster 2-1 at the Keepmoat Stadium, with Beto scoring a goal on his debut.

Speaking on the talkSPORT drive show [17:47], Bent claimed: “Everton have got to find a way to put away their changes.
“To be fair, that Beto, he looked quite good. I know it was Doncaster but he looked powerful, strong, quick. He might just be the answer for them.”
Hoping he will be the one
Sean Dyche and his side, along with Everton fans around the world, will be hoping Bent’s verdict is correct. They spent the entire transfer window looking for a striker who could score goals on a consistent basis, and Beto looks like he could finally be that man.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s continued injury issues, combined with Neal Maupay’s lack of consistency in front of goal, meant Everton found themselves desperately in need of reinforcements up front, and the Portuguese striker was the one they settled on.

The club had looked to bring in Southampton striker Che Adams, but that deal fell through as the clubs could not agree on the structure of their payments after striking a £15million deal for the Scottish international striker, who now looks set to remain on the South Coast.
Everton forward Neal Maupay looks like he will leave Goodison Park for a loan return to Brentford today [Fabrizio Romano], as the club no longer requires his presence with the arrival of Beto and Youssef Chermiti.
In other Everton news, the club have made a last-gasp £25million offer for a long-term target.
