Everton transfer news as Brentford agree Neal Maupay deal today – Fabrizio Romano
Everton have reached a verbal agreement for Neal Maupay to join Brentford on an initial loan move, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The transfer specialist reported via his Twitter account on Friday (1 September) that the Frenchman would be returning to the London side on an initial temporary deal, with the Bees holding an option to make the deal permanent.
Maupay is currently on his way to complete his medical tests with the expectation that he will no longer be a Toffees player come the transfer deadline.
Sean Dyche has looked likely to allow the forward to depart Goodison Park should the right offer be made for a majority of the transfer window and a return to Brentford where Maupay played between 2017-2019 looks set to be complete.
Space made
The Toffees want to add to their squad before the transfer deadline and shifting Maupay both out of the squad and the wages bill makes that a much easier prospect and represents a very sensible piece of business from the Toffees.
Maupay doesn’t particularly fit the archetypal Dyche frontman and has struggled in truth since making the switch to Merseyside, being unable to earn regular minutes and not finding the net consistently.

With the signing of Beto, the 27-year-old had already slipped down the pecking order at Goodison Park and with many behind the scenes working hard to complete further incoming, it is unlikely he would have featured heavily this season.
Hopefully, the Toffees can add to their squad having allowed Mayday and likely Alex Iwobi to depart in the final hours of the transfer window. It looks like it is going to be a chaotic end to what has been a chaotic summer.
