Everton transfer news as update emerges on Southampton attacker Kamaldeen Sulemana

Southampton attacker Kamaldeen Sulemana now appears set to stay at St Mary’s despite Everton keen on signing him, according to Jacob Tanswell.

The Athletic journalist reports that the Toffees did not step up their interest on deadline day and bar any last-minute twists, the 21-year-old will be staying put at the Saints.

It’s understood that the Championship club wanted £30million to sell the 21-year-old Ghana international.

Via Twitter, Tanswell wrote, “Kamaldeen Sulemana set to stay put at #SaintsFC. Barring unexpected late interest, 21yo will remain at club. Possibility of a permanent deal with Everton earlier in the day but their interest has not stepped up. Southampton wanted £30m release clause met.”

Not happening

It’s clear that Sulemana wasn’t a priority and it now remains to be seen if they enter the market for him in the final few hours.

They wanted to sign Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto and that deal also does not look to be happening.

Whether or not the Toffees can pay the money the Cherries want for the Ghanaian remains to be seen, but it seems to be unlikely, as things stand.

They need to make a quick decision on who they want to sign as Sean Dyche does seem to want to sign a wide attacker this summer.

With Alex Iwobi leaving, they will become significantly weaker in that area and it’s understandable why the want reinforcements there.

Time is now running out so any decision needs to be made in the coming minutes.
