Fabrizio Romano drops ‘here we go’ as Everton exit all but complete for Alex Iwobi
Alex Iwobi is on the verge of completing his move from Everton to Fulham, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist dropped his trademark “here we go” tweet on 1 September after the Toffees have agreed a £22million fee to sell the Nigerian international to their Premier League rivals.
He said the 27-year-old midfielder is undergoing his medical in London on Friday ahead of his move to Craven Cottage as the transfer deadline approaches.
Matter of time
The latest update from Romano shows that is just a matter of time now before Iwobi completes his move to Fulham after they have been pursuing a deal for him over the past 48 hours.
The Toffees’ hands have likely been forced into selling the midfielder after he has refused to sign a new contract at the club as he heads into his final year at Goodison Park.
With that in mind, the fee on the table is a pretty decent chunk of change because they could’ve lost him for nothing next summer.

Although Everton have managed to bring in a couple of other options out wide in the form of Arnaut Danjuma and Jack Harrison, Iwobi has been an important player since Sean Dyche arrived at the club, so the Blues boss will be disappointed to lose him.
It’s yet to be seen whether or not the funds will be reinvested to try and bring in another player, but they could be used to help ease the financial issues currently surrounding the club.
In other Everton news, Don Hutchison was impressed by a player’s “brilliant” performance against Doncaster.
