Chris Sutton predicts result of Everton Premier League clash v Sheffield United

Pundit Chris Sutton has predicted the result of the Premier League fixture between Everton and Sheffield United.

Sean Dyche and his players will travel to Bramall Lane to take on the newly-promoted club on Saturday (2 September).

Both sides are on zero points from their first three matches, with Everton below the Blades in the table due to their inferior goal difference.

Predicting a 1-0 win for the away side, Sutton told BBC Sport: “Everton have got better. They got off the mark against Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Cup.

“They need a striker to start scoring as they haven’t scored yet in the Premier League. They’ve created plenty of chances in their home fixtures and I think the 4-0 loss against Aston Villa was a game to forget.

“Sean Dyche needs to get off the mark and I think he will get off the mark with three points.”

Tough test

Even with the struggles of Sheffield United so far, Everton are in for a tough test, with the crowd at Bramall Lane certain to help spur on the home side.

The Blades have not had a great time of it since returning to the top flight, with the club losing 2-1 to Nottingham Forest and Manchester City, and 1-0 to Crystal Palace.

They have, however, at least found the back of the net in the league this season, something which Everton have not yet managed.

Moreover, the hosts have a better defensive record than their upcoming opponents, which should give them some confidence going into the match.

New Toffees signing Beto may just be the difference on the day, with the striker already off the mark for his new club after signing from Udinese, having scored in the 2-1 EFL Cup second round win against Doncaster on Wednesday (30 August).

In other Everton news, early team news for the clash with Sheffield United has emerged, with an update on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
