Ian Wright wowed by ‘beautiful’ Beto footage in Everton 2-2 draw v Sheffield United
Ian Wright was impressed with Beto on his Premier League debut for Everton as they earned their first points and goals of the season on Saturday.
Speaking on BBC’s Match Of The Day (2 September), the former Arsenal striker was awestruck by the Blues’ new forward after his performance against Sheffield United in a 2-2 draw.
Wright praised Beto’s hold-up play, his ability to link up with his teammates and some “beautiful” moments on the ball but has urged his teammates to provide him with more chances.

Speaking on Match Of The Day, Wright said: “I think, at the moment, and the performance he put in today is very, very promising. I thought he showed aspects of everything.
“I’d like to see more chances for him. I don’t think they created enough for him. In respect of his link-up play and his hold-up play and causing a real problem, a physical presence.
“He done everything. This is what Everton are going to need, somebody who’s going to hold it like this. Brilliant play here coming off the defender, beautiful ball coming onto a runner.
“What we want to see from him now is a couple of chances, and see him take them.”
New dimension
Beto seemed to add a new dimension to the Everton attack in his outing in the Premier League.
The need for Sean Dyche’s side to improve up top was obvious last season and has proved obvious since the start of last season. Now, their new £30million man could be the answer to fans’ prayers.
With Neal Maupay making his move back to Brentford on loan on deadline day, Beto has even more pressure to perform, but his debut outing has given fans a lot of hope.
Against Sheffield United, the 25-year-old looked bullish in the box and caused the Blades’ backline plenty of issues. While he didn’t get his goal on the day, he managed to get two shots away, made three successful tackles and successfully completed six dribbles. [SofaScore]

He mostly had possession just outside the penalty area where he was adept at holding possession before the likes of Arnaut Danjuma and James Garner made themselves available. He was a presence across the front line, not just centrally, which may come in handy for Everton.
It certainly wasn’t a perfect performance. More shots from the former Udinese man would have been desired, while his 63% pass accuracy (10/16) shows that he could have got on the ball a bit more.
However, the early signs are there and a bit of anxiety will have been released at Bramall Lane after his performance, Sean Dyche will hope Beto adds to his strong debut across the season.
In other Everton news, a Sky Sports presenter was wowed by Jordan Pickford’s moment of magic late in the game against Sheffield United.
