Everton: Overseas journalist raves about ‘distinguished’ Demarai Gray as Al-Ettifaq announce signing
Amer Abdulla has raved about Demarai Gray after he completed his move from Everton to Al-Ettifaq on Thursday (7 September).
The Abu Dhabi Sports commentator tweeted on 6 September that the “distinguished” Jamaican international will be a “quality” addition to Steven Gerrard’s side.
He said the 27-year-old winger possesses “speed, skill and initiative” and that the deal marks a “quantum leap” for the Saudi outfit, who announced the £8million signing on Thursday.
Overhyped
Although Gray will be a good player in the Saudi Pro League, the tweet from Abdulla is perhaps overhyping his ability just a little bit.
There are far better players that have headed over to the Middle Eastern country over the past few months, so this isn’t exactly a standout signing.
The only difference from most of those other deals, however, is that the Jamaican is actually in his prime and may have more to give over a longer period of time.

The forward had fallen out of favour under Sean Dyche at Goodison Park over the past few months, leading to much speculation over the past few weeks around his future.
After he accused the Blues boss of not respecting him in a social media post on 3 September, it seemed pretty inevitable that he would be sold as quickly as possible and now everyone can move on from the saga.
In other Everton news, Jim White has mooted a “failure in management” around the Gray transfer.
