Everton investment news: £175m update emerges on possible 777 Partners takeover
It is “unlikely” that 777 Partners are capable of buying or investing in part of Everton “as it stands” because they appear not to have been successful in raising funds this year, according to the esk.
The journalist reported via Twitter on Monday 11 September, while referring to a 11 July report from Bloomberg, that there was “no evidence of any money raised” when they had been looking to generate $220million [£175m] earlier this year.
Therefore it is mooted that the American company don’t “have the resources” to buy all or part of the Toffees right now.
Amid warnings from the likes of Kieran Maguire it has so far been suggested that 777 Partners are currently the “frontrunners” to replace the collapsed MSP Sports Capital investment deal, but the latest update may have put that in doubt.
Confusion
At this point it seems virtually impossible to predict what is going to happen in terms of the long-awaited investment at the club, and that feeling may even extend to those making the decisions.
There is apparently interest from multiple sources to get involved with the club in some way, and while the Toffees remain a Premier League outfit that is perhaps no surprise.
But after the widely-expected MSP Sports Capital relationship broke down, and even the £100m loan that was still supposed to be on the way still apparently not having arrived, the situation appears to be up in the air.

Uncertainty in that regard is hardly ideal in itself, but when rumours circulating around seem to regularly suggest that a cash injection is badly needed as fast as possible it seems concerning that months continue to tick by without it arriving.
Perhaps that means the financial position at the club isn’t as perilous as reports often claim, but Farhad Moshiri presumably wouldn’t be going through the palaver of bringing in a new party over and over for no reason.
While 777 Partners have been prominent in the situation ever since last season, it isn’t entirely clear where the confidence that they are in line to secure a deal comes from.
And if the latest suggestion that they haven’t raised any of the money they were after is accurate then perhaps the secretive alternative option from Asia might be in with a greater chance of success.
In other Everton news, a player the Toffees were after this summer has been left in a “hellish situation” after his transfer failed.
