Everton investment update: 777 Partners named 'firm favourites' as 'real and credible' rivals shun limelight - Alan Myers
The Asian group interested in providing Everton investment are “real and credible” but are avoiding the limelight, according to Alan Myers.
The Sky Sports journalist responded to a question via Twitter on 7 September to share that the group “do not want or seek publicity” but are a genuine interested party despite 777 Partners still being seen as “firm favourites”.
The process to find a replacement for the collapsed MSP Sports Capital deal is currently “progressing” according to Myers’ information.
Early in 2023 777 Partners had gone up against MSP Sports Capital only for the latter to secure an exclusivity agreement with Farhad Moshiri, with a deal widely expected until it fell through last month [The Athletic, 23 August].
Options?
It should be a positive for there to at least be more than one avenue for the club to potentially go down at this stage, so the fact that the Asian group are considered credible it at least something.

Secrecy when it comes to those looking to take a meaningful share of ownership in a football club hasn’t necessarily proven to be beneficial elsewhere when transparency is something fans are always crying out for, but there is no suggestion of anything nefarious at this stage.

Despite another transfer window where money brought in from sales vastly outstripped what has yet been spent on signings it appears to still be widely accepted as vital that further investment is sourced as a priority.
The situation has been providing an uneasy backdrop off the pitch to the team’s struggles on it for most of the past two seasons, and looks to be set to do the same through this campaign.
