Farhad Moshiri pitched sale of Everton to other US investors in recent weeks amid 777 full takeover

Farhad Moshiri had his representatives pitching the sale of Everton to other US investors as recently as three weeks ago, according to the Liverpool ECHO.

Writing on their official website (12 September), the reputable news outlet report that Moshiri has been eyeing a sale of the club for a while amid reports of “advanced talks” between Everton and 777 Partners.

A deal is expected to take “several months” to complete according to Alan Myers, but Moshiri has been in talks with several parties as recently as last month before getting close to an agreement with the Miami-based investment firm.

“The ECHO understands that representatives of Moshiri have been pitching the sale of a majority stake in the club to US investors and involved in discussions with ‘boutique banks’ over finance packages as recently as three weeks ago,” they wrote.

“One of the major sticking points has not been the valuation of the football club but the issue of securing further funding to complete the 52,888-seater stadium build that is slated to be open at some point during the 2024/25 season.”

Needed

Everton no doubt need new owners and someone who can come in, fund the project and get us out of the hole that Moshiri’s poor decisions have put us in.

But we simply can’t afford to get the decision on who the next owners are going to be wrong, and Moshiri seems desperate just to sell up and move on.

777 Partners are in hot water in the United States with some claims of fraud doing the rounds, and their record with the other football clubs that they own hardly scream success either.

However some Everton fans will just be delighted to get rid of Moshiri and his mob, and hope that the new owners spark a new era and something to look forward to.

Only time will tell, but it’s clear now that Moshiri wants out of Everton and a deal to sell up looks closer than it has been at any other time in his tenure here.
