Pundit shares ‘almost faultless’ verdict on Everton ace Jordan Pickford in international break
It is “really hard” to take the England number one shirt off Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, according to Darren Bent.
The Toffees ace has been his country’s number one for several years now, but watched on from the bench in the 3-1 win against Scotland on Tuesday (12 September).
England manager Gareth Southgate opted to start Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale in the friendly encounter at Hampden Park.

“It’s really hard to take that number one shirt off Pickford, because he has not let England down,” Bent said live on talkSPORT. “Whether it be making saves or scoring penalties. The double save against Sheffield United was ridiculous.
“For Everton he has been consistent. I know he tends to wander and have lapses here and there, but for England, he’s almost faultless isn’t he?”

Top player
England really are blessed at this moment in time in every position on the pitch, starting at the very back thanks to the presence of Pickford and Ramsdale.
The Three Lions manager also has Crystal Palace shot-stopper Sam Johnstone at his disposal, and has previously turned to Newcastle United number one Nick Pope.
It really isn’t a bad problem for the man in the dugout to have, and it is also beneficial to the players themselves, who should be constantly upping their game in a bid to impress their manager.
Pickford has barely put a foot wrong for England over the years, making countless world-class saves in major tournaments and other important matches.
He looks set to continue in his number one role for both club and country in the near future, with Everton manager Sean Dyche and Three Lions boss Southgate having no reason to drop him anytime soon.
In other Everton news, a £175million development has emerged on the mooted Toffees takeover.
