Ashley Young sends Everton squad message after what Alan Brazil asked him live on air
The entire Everton team “from the back to the front” must help create chances and score goals as it’s “not just down to the strikers”, according to Ashley Young.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (14 September, 9:11 am), the full-back responded to Alan Brazil’s question regarding the lack of attacking threat in the side, with Young suggesting it’s “an all-round game”.
With the Toffees struggling towards the bottom of the Premier League table with the lowest goal haul (2), Young was clear that the whole team must “pitch in” to change their fortunes.

Live on talkSPORT, Young said: “I think it’s always one of those things. You talk about the strikers and the ones who have got to finish and take the chances, but it’s an all-round team game.
“We create chances from the back to the front. Everybody pitches in with the goals and the chances that are created – we’re the ones who have to take them, it’s not just down to the strikers it’s down to everybody”.
Leadership
Despite only joining the club this summer, Young is clearly positioning himself as a leader in Sean Dyche’s Everton dressing room.
The 38-year-old came to Goodison Park with a wealth of top-flight experience and off the back of a great season with Aston Villa where he helped them qualify for European competition.
European nights feel like a distant memory and an insurmountable goal for the Toffees in their current situation, however. With growing financial issues, a lack of goal threat and relegation looking like a real possibility, fortunes need to be switched on Merseyside to avoid a historically poor season.

Young appeared confident in his side, however. The recruitment of Beto and Arnaut Danjuma could add enough firepower to the side to keep Everton up, but the former Manchester United man insists that the rest of the side needs to help out.
“From the back to the front”, Everton have players capable of providing an attacking threat, but Sean Dyche has a big task in getting the side to fulfil its potential.
