Everton now in advanced talks to sell Andre Gomes for millions as ‘huge’ financial news emerges

Everton are in advanced talks to sell midfielder Andre Gomes to Fenerbache, according to TEAMtalk.

The news outlet reported on Tuesday (13 September) that the Toffees are willing to sell the 30-year-old for as little as £5million in what would be a “huge” loss on the £22million they paid to sign him from Barcelona in 2019.

It said the Turkish club are “eager” to secure a deal for the Portuguese midfielder before the country’s transfer deadline closes on Friday (15 September).

Inevitable

It has seemed pretty inevitable that Gomes would complete a move away from Everton despite many thinking that it would have already happened by now.

The midfielder has had a mixed spell with the Toffees since originally arriving at Goodison Park on loan in 2018 before making the switch permanently at the end of the season.

The Blues will be disappointed to be making a massive loss on him after he signed for £22million, with the report suggesting he is now set to leave for just £5million.

Sean Dyche is believed to be happy to sanction the Portuguese’s exit after he spent last season on loan at French club Lille, where he scored three goals and laid on two assists in 27 appearances.

It makes sense to move him on now and receive some cash to try and balance the books as it always seemed unlikely he would be part of the manager’s plan for this campaign.
