Everton transfer news as Fenerbache request Andre Gomes health report ahead of last-gasp signing

Fenerbache have requested the health reports of Everton midfielder Andre Gomes as they look to secure a last-gasp transfer, according to Sporx.

The Turkish online media outlet (14 September) writes that Fenerbache had doubts about Gomes’ injury history and have asked for health reports on the Portuguese midfielder with manager Ismail Karta giving the green light.

FotoMac reported on 13 September that the midfielder is set to swap Goodison Park for the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium in a £4.3million deal as Fenerbache look to bolster their defensive midfield options ahead of Friday’s Turkish deadline.

It’s been reported in Sporx that the Fenerbache management did not favour Gomes at first but their decision changed after Karta gave the green light because of the 30-year-old’s qualities.

Nearly done?

The 30-year-old has been linked with a permanent exit from Goodison Park for all of about two years now but a move never seemed to materialise.

It’s been a long while since Gomes last starred in front of the Everton fanbase with his last Premier League appearance coming against Crystal Palace on home turf in May 2022 [Transfermarkt].

Since then the 29-time Portuguese international had a loan spell at LOSC Lille which proved rather successful featuring in 26 Ligue 1 games, scoring three goals and registering two assists.

A return to France looked to be on the cards at some during the summer but no move came to fruition and with his contract having under a year to run, Everton will do incredibly well to get some sort of fee for his expected and inevitable exit.

Now it seems Fenerbache are stealing a march on his signing after their manager has reportedly given the green light which means Gomes’ expected exit now may be hours away.

Fenerbahce will be fighting for European qualification and perhaps even the league title this season, which Gomes could certainly contribute heavily to and it’s a move which could turn out incredibly well for all parties involved.
