BBC pundit moots Everton doubts for Beto, summer signing was ‘so isolated’ v Arsenal
Beto will be wondering “why on earth” he moved to Everton in the summer transfer window, according to Chris Sutton.
The pundit believes the striker was “so, so isolated” in his club’s 1-0 Premier League defeat to Arsenal on Sunday (17 September).
The 25-year-old joined the Toffees on a four-year deal from Udinese last month, as per the official Everton website (29 August).
“Even though Arsenal are superior to Everton – and I think we can understand the way Sean Dyche set up to defend deep and contain – you’ve got to carry a bit of a threat, and they didn’t carry any threat,” Sutton said live on The Monday Night Club on 5 Live Sport (18 September).
“I bet Beto is thinking ‘blimey, why on earth did I sign here.’ He was so, so isolated.”

Beto was brought in by Sean Dyche to try and bang in the goals for the Toffees, having hit double figures for Udinese in Serie A last season.
The forward has already opened his scoring account for his new club, netting in the EFL Cup win over Doncaster Rovers last month.
But he has fired blanks against both Sheffield United and Arsenal in the Premier League, with a lack of service not helping the attacker.
That was particularly evident against the Gunners on Sunday, with the home supporters watching on hugely frustrated at their side’s complete absence of creativity.
It is, of course, early days for Beto at the Merseyside club, and he should build upon his goals tally as the months go on.
But he will need help on that front if the Toffees are to climb the Premier League table, with fellow forwards Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Youssef Chermiti also needing to chip in with goals.
