Simon Jordan shares Everton takeover verdict as he hits out at 777 Partners

Simon Jordan has hit out at 777 Partners, branding them a “motley group” as rumours continue to swirl about their potential purchase of Everton Football Club.

The former Crystal Palace owner has claimed that the ultimate result of the purchase, whether it comes from 777 Partners or another option, could see Farhad Moshiri walk away with nothing other than cleared debts.

Jordan’s claim comes from the suggestion that the record-breaking debts [Daily Mail, 17 September] racked up by Moshiri through loans towards the building of the Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium could put a spanner in the works for a potential takeover.

Speaking live on talkSPORT on 19 September, Jordan stated: “Everton will find a buyer, whether it’s this little motley group or it’s another one, we’ll see.

“But it’ll be about a price, and if it means that Moshiri has to walk away with nothing rather than ongoing debts and someone can steal it, who knows, but Everton will find a buyer.”

Questioned by Jim White: “You think they’re a motley group?”, Jordan simply claimed: “Well I’m not entirely sure they’re the most edifying.”

Could Moshiri walk away with nothing?

While rumours continue to swirl about the validity of the purchase, there is still an agreement in place for 777 Partners to buy the 94.1% stake owned by Moshiri [Everton], which in theory would mean he would receive the money for the purchase.

However, due to the size of the debts he and the club owe based on loans received largely to put towards the financing of building the new Stadium at Bramley-Moore Docks, the covering of those debts may prove to be the key for him to walk away.

The Daily Mail [17 September] claimed that the debts owed add up to approximately £281million, including a £100million loan from MSP Sports Capital, who were the previous group in talks over the purchase of shares in the club.

Controversy continues to rise around the purchase by 777 Partners, with seemingly every passing day proving a new reason for fans to be sceptical and claims to be made about the validity of their investment.

The key details will certainly be something to look out for.

In other Everton news, calls have been made to drop some senior players in favour of a more exciting option.
