Sean Dyche provides new update on Seamus Coleman fitness at Everton
Sean Dyche has provided a new update on Seamus Coleman’s fitness, with the Everton legend having made positive progress and is now out on the grass as he continues his rehabilitation process.
Coleman sustained a knee injury which saw him stretchered off of the pitch during Everton’s 2-2 draw with Leicester City on 1 May last season and has been working to return to the pitch.
Dyche was also keen to praise Coleman’s impact around the club despite his absence from training, claiming he is always involved in conversations with the boss and the squad as he continues to lead by example away from the field.
Speaking in his press conference on 21 September, as shared by Everton’s official Twitter account, Dyche was asked whether he has returned to training, and if he is contributing off the field, as he shared: “Yeah absolutely [he’s played his role as captain], he’s great around the place.
“First of all, he’s not with us yet training, he is out on the grass through so he is making progress, but he’s not yet with us, with our group.
“But he’s always around, chatting with him, chatting with the group and you know the fantastic professional that he is, so yeah he’s always around and his opinion is always welcome.”
Fans will be hoping for a return soon
After a tricky start to their campaign, fans will be hoping for their captain to make a quick and strong return to the side sooner rather than later, as he leads by example and his on-field influence has been sorely missed so far.

Coleman’s leadership can so often prove invaluable to this Everton side, and his ability to inspire the team with his leadership and motivation may prove the difference between winning and losing in the tight games they face for the rest of the season.
The side has looked like it’s lacking inspiration so far this season, struggling going forward and being penalised for silly mistakes defensively – something Coleman will not stand for as he demands high standards of his teammates.
Of course, he will not make all the difference, despite the fact it will likely help. There also can’t be too much expectation placed on his return, as the rehabilitation process will continue to take its course, and he will return in due time.
