Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure reveals complications amid Goodison Park contract
Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure has revealed reasons for taking a break from the Mali national team during the current international break.
In an interview with 90 Foot, as translated by Afrik Foot, the 30-year-old made an admission about his injury situation.
He has also mentioned his contract at Goodison Park and he has revealed that there are certain complications involving that.
He said: “Today I took a little break regarding the national team . Because there were a few incidents when I was there, for the World Cup qualification. There are quite a few things that I didn’t like.
“I’m 30, I have to take care of my body. Not to hurt myself. I have had two serious injuries in my career, so I will be careful not to have a third. I have my contractual situation with Everton. I only have one year left on my contract, it’s a bit complicated for me.”
Makes sense
Players tend to retire from the national team in order to prolong their club career and it seems like Doucoure is thinking along those lines.
He’s given it all for his national team through years of service and if club football is his priority one cannot blame him.
It may not just be about the money but it certainly could be a deciding factor for the 30-year-old.

He may also prefer the quality of life on Merseyside and in order to avoid further injuries, he doesn’t want to risk things during international breaks.
Last season, Doucoure emerged as an unlikely ray of hope for the Toffees and bailed them out more than once.
The Goodison Park faithful certainly appreciate all the hard work he puts in for the team.
In other Everton news, a condition has now emerged on Sean Dyche being sacked amid trouble behind the scenes at Goodison Park.
