Paul Merson ‘Shocked’ by what he saw at Everton v Arsenal, makes relegation prediction live on Sky Sports
Paul Merson has admitted to being “shocked” by how quiet Goodison Park was during Everton v Arsenal and says he’s worried about their Premier League status.
The Toffees were beaten 1-0 by the Gunners, making it four losses in five games to start the season and they sit in the bottom three ahead of the trip to Brentford on Saturday evening.
And speaking on Sky Sports Soccer Saturday (23 September, 13:31), Merson admitted to being worried for them after what he saw in the defeat to Arsenal.

“My big worry, as Sue said, was that it was quiet,” he said.
“The one thing about when you go to Everton is it’s a hard place to go. It don’t matter where they are in the league, you know it’s going to be hard. You know they’re going to be in and about you, you know the crowd are going to be on top of you.
“I just thought it was a walk in the park for Arsenal, and that shocked me with Everton. Even when they’re down near the bottom I always think you go to Everton and win a football match, you’ve done well. Not at the moment.
“I worry for Everton. I’ve worried from day one and nothing’s changed. It’s made it even more.”
Scared
Merson isn’t the only one scared of Everton being relegated after the start to the season, and it’s hard to argue with why.

Currently the club are struggling to score goals at one end of the pitch and can’t keep the ball out of the net at the other end, which is a recipe for disaster for anyone.
Dyche is struggling to get his ideas across seemingly considering the fact he’s known for making his teams robust defensively, and we need to start picking up wins and points really quickly.
The game against Brentford will be a big opportunity to do that but it obviously won’t be easy, with the Bees in great form and unbeaten against us since they came up to the Premier League.
Everyone is worried and until we start to see evidence as to why we will be staying in the top flight, fans are entitled to be biting their nails and thinking the worst while praying that they’re wrong about it.
