Journalist raves about Jarrad Branthwaite, predicts Everton to make an ‘awful lot’ on future sale
Everton could be in line to make a healthy profit on a potential future sale of Jarrad Branthwaite, according to Dean Jones.
Speaking to GiveMeSport on Sunday (24 September), the former Eurosport journalist said the signing of the 21-year-old centre-back for £1million from Carlisle United in 2020 was one of the best bits of business the Toffees have ever done.
He added that the England under-21 international will either be a key player for the Blues for years to come or they are in line to make an “awful lot” of money on him at some point.

“Yeah, look, he’s learned a lot over the last year and you can see and hear from him that he’s keen to now show that,” said Jones. “This is a player that, to be honest, can go as far in the game as he wants.
“If he keeps this mentality that he’s been showing in terms of a willingness to learn and progress, then he’s certainly going to prove to be one of the best bits of business Everton have ever done financially. I mean, he will either be a key player for years to come, or they’re in line to make an awful lot of money on him.”
Taking his chance
There has been a lot of talk around Branthwaite over the past few years, but he has never really been given much of a chance to prove his worth at Goodison Park.
He went out on loan and earned some regular football with PSV last season, having played 36 games for the Dutch side across the campaign.
After sitting on the bench for the opening couple of games of this season, the defender was handed his opportunity against Wolves and hasn’t lost his place in the side since then.

He was impressive in the victory over Brentford on Saturday (23 September), playing with the confidence of someone well beyond his years.
The centre-back will now be keen to nail down that position for as long as possible and the Blues fans will be looking forward to seeing what is to come from him in the future.
In other Everton news, a Sky Sports pundit was impressed by one player after what he did against Brentford.
