Abby Clarke and Annie Wilding sign first professional contracts for Everton Women

Everton Women Academy graduates Abby Clarke and Annie Wilding have signed their first professional contracts at the club, as shared by the official club website.

The club released the news on 27 September, in a promising update that two of their top academy prospects have committed their long-term futures to Everton Women.

There will now be a view for them to be integrated into the first-team squad under Brian Sorensen, who has shown a willingness to experiment with playing some of the club’s young talent since his arrival in 2022.

Very promising news for the future

Everton have taken further steps to secure the future of the team and will be delighted to see two of the club’s top prospects sign their first professional deals in what will be a big step for both of their careers.

Wilding was handed her professional debut by Sorensen in December 2022, having been in the youth setup since she was 12 years old. She has not made an appearance since then, but will now be looking for more regular involvement having tasted first-team football already.

Clarke also made her debut in that clash with Durham in the Continental Tyres League Cup and has since gone on to make her Women’s Super League debut in the final game of last season against Manchester City.

The midfielder told the official website it was a “special” feeling and a “dream come true” signing her first professional deal, and expressed a desire to bridge the gap between academy and professional level with more involvement to come in the coming months.
