Injury Expert reacts as Everton ace Dele Alli stitches popped during training

We’re delighted to welcome injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the injury situation at Everton...

Everton attacker Dele Alli would’ve been under tremendous pain and discomfort after the popping of stitches, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The Toffees attacker’s stitches popped during a training session over the summer which delayed his return to first-team football.

Sean Dyche revealed that instead of re-stitching it, they went down the natural recovery route. [Liverpool Echo]

Discussing his situation exclusively with Goodison News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

During some surgeries, internal stitches are used to sew up the site of the incision.

In some cases, a stitch can pop after becoming overloaded and that looks to have happened to Alli while he was working on his ball striking.

It can be quite painful and uncomfortable but looks like he’s still going to miss multiple games.

Alli has had a tough time since his move to Everton and while he played initially, game time was hard to come by.

He hoped that going out on loan would get his career back on track but things did not pan out too well at Besiktas either.

The Toffees chose to retain his services over the summer despite his fitness issues, but it remains to be seen how long he’s at Goodison Park.

In other Everton news, a condition has now emerged on Sean Dyche being sacked amid trouble behind the scenes at Goodison Park.
