Journalist shares Everton change he expects Sean Dyche to make at Goodison Park
Liverpool Echo journalist Connor O’Neill believes “there is every possibility” Sean Dyche will recall Ashley Young when Everton host Luton Town on Saturday 30 September.
Vitalii Mykolenko has been preferred at left-back in recent games, but he sustained a knock in the first half of the Toffees’ 2-1 EFL Cup win against Aston Villa on Wednesday [27 September].
The Ukraine international is considered doubtful for the Premier League meeting with Luton at Goodison Park, meaning a possible recall for Young on the left and a place on the right for Nathan Patterson.

Predicting the line-up Dyche could pick to face the Hatters [Liverpool Echo, 28 September], O’Neill wrote: “With Vitalii Mykolenko facing a late fitness check, there is every possibility that Ashley Young could start at left-back.
“And given Seamus Coleman still remains sidelined, Nathan Patterson remains the favourite to start at right-back.”
Reshuffle possible
In an ideal world, Dyche would stick with Mykolenko at left-back following the wins over Brentford and Villa over the past week.
Should the 24-year-old be ruled out against Luton, it would mean Dyche having to tinker with his defensive set-up.
Young was favoured over Patterson at right-back versus Brentford, but he seems the best option to fill in for Mykolenko on the opposite flank.

Mykolenko has impressed in Everton’s past few matches, having missed the start of the campaign with an injury sustained during the close-season.
Providing an update on the former Dynamo Kyiv player’s fitness on Thursday [28 September], Dyche said the injury was “nothing too major”.
Let’s hope that is the case and he can retain his place in defence this weekend as the Toffees look to maintain their good run of form.
