Sean Dyche must deliver on early Everton promise to avoid Frank Lampard fate at Goodison Park
Sean Dyche will be hoping to avoid matching an unwanted Everton record when Luton Town visit Goodison Park this weekend.
The Toffees picked up a first win of the Premier League campaign at Brentford last Saturday (23 September) and followed that up with a 2-1 victory against Aston Villa in the third round of the EFL Cup on Wednesday (27 September).
Those morale-boosting wins for Everton came on their travels, but it has been a different story so far in front of their home fans.

Indeed, they have lost all three league games on Merseyside this season, failing to so much as score in those successive 1-0 defeats to Fulham, Wolves and Arsenal.
As per The Analyst, only once before have the Toffees started a top-flight campaign with four straight home defeats – in 1958-59.
Only six times in their history have they lost four in a row at any point in a campaign, most recently just last season when Frank Lampard was in charge.
After those losses to Leicester City, Wolves, Brighton and Hove Albion and Southampton – spread across two months due to the World Cup break – Lampard was ousted and Dyche came in.
The former Burnley manager’s first match ended that horrible home run as Everton were 1-0 victors against Arsenal, and they followed that up with a couple more 1-0 wins over their next three matches at Goodison.

Everton have since lost six of their last seven on home soil, which clearly they will have to put right if they are to ensure they are not embroiled in another relegation scrap.
The visit of a winless Luton side on Saturday [30 September] presents an opportunity to do just that.
Another defeat, though, and Dyche may end up going the same way as his predecessor in the not-too-distant future.
