Everton takeover under threat as ‘explosive’ 777 Partners legal complaint emerges

The takeover of Everton by 777 Partners is under threat due to an “explosive” new legal complaint regarding the group’s source of funding, according to Josimar.

The publication reported on its website on Wednesday (4 October) that the complaint could “threaten to derail” the takeover.

As per the official Everton website (15 September), 777 Partners have agreed to acquire Farhad Moshiri’s full stake in the club.

“Now, Josimar can reveal that 777’s source of funding is at the centre of an explosive new legal complaint that was filed on 29 September in the Court of Chancery in Delaware, USA,” according to Josimar.

“Josh Wander and Steve Pasko, who were both present at Goodison Park to see Everton’s defeat to Luton on 30 September, eyeing up what could soon be their shiny new toy, are both named personally in the case, which is being brought by Timothy O’Neil-Dunne and the MALT Family Trust.

“O’Neil-Dunne, who is suing 777 for fraud in a related case, used to work for 777 as Chief Commercial Officer of its Canadian budget airline, Flair.

“His latest lawsuit demands the production of certain books and records belonging to 777 subsidiary Phoenicia LLC. And the allegations contained within it could threaten to derail the takeover of Everton.”

Unwanted update

Everton fans have been through plenty of ups and downs under the guidance of Moshiri in recent years, with definitely more downs instead of ups.

But there has been a renewed sense of optimism around Goodison Park since the interest from 777 Partners initially emerged, with supporters believing that nobody could fare any worse in the ownership role than Moshiri.

However, the roller-coaster journey looks set to continue in the months and possibly years to come, if the 777 takeover is confirmed or indeed if it isn’t.

The US-based investment firm seemingly have their demons, and it looks like they will have to fight those demons with full force in order to see through their purchase of the Toffees.

Everton manager Sean Dyche will really want to see an end to such distractions, with the Merseyside club really struggling under the boss in the early stages of the new season.

In other Everton news, a Premier League journalist has slammed the Toffees after they suffered an “unwanted record” in the loss to Luton Town.
