Journalist warns Jack Harrison could suffer back-to-back relegations after joining Everton

Phil Hay has warned Jack Harrison that there is a chance he could suffer back-to-back relegations after joining Everton from Leeds United in the summer.

The Athletic journalist named Harrison alongside Luis Sinisterra and Tyler Adams, both of whom joined Bournemouth in the transfer window, on a list of players that could suffer relegation this season after Leeds’ disappointment last time out.

Following the defeat to Luton Town, during which Harrison made his Premier League debut for Everton at Goodison Park, the Toffees have started to feel the concerns of yet another relegation battle.

Writing an assessment of Leeds’ transfer business for The Athletic on 4 October, Hay stated: “But over at Everton, Jack Harrison — on the way back from a hip injury — took until the last weekend of September to make his league debut.

“It came on Saturday in a 2-1 defeat to Luton Town. There is a chance that by joining Everton on loan, Harrison, like Sinisterra and Adams, will have bounced from one relegation to another.”

Harrison will be looking to help Everton avoid that

Of course, back-to-back relegations would come with a certain level of ignominy for Harrison, as it would for any player. He will be looking to provide Everton with enough through his own displays to prevent that scenario from coming true.

It has been a poor start to the season for Sean Dyche’s side. Failing to score in home defeats to Fulham, Wolves and Luton has raised the pressure at Goodison Park, and hopes will be that Harrison can make the difference ahead of a difficult season.

With his return from injury only just underway, the former Leeds man will be hoping for more regular game-time as Dyche tinkers with his system in an attempt to get the best out of his squad.

There have been calls for Harrison to start in his position on the right-hand side of the midfield, which would then see James Garner return to his natural position in the centre of midfield, after being asked to play out wide for much of the season so far.

In other Everton news, Manchester United could now move for an Everton star after recent developments.
