BBC journalist shares ‘important’ Everton admission ahead of showdown v Bournemouth
Getting results at Goodison Park must now be the priority for Everton after the club’s poor home form, according to Ian Kennedy.
Writing on the BBC Sport website on Wednesday (4 October, 04:58pm), the BBC Radio Merseyside journalist said a decent home record is “surely the foundation” for any campaign and that’s why the game against Bournemouth on Saturday (7 October) is important.
He added that these are the fixtures that the Toffees “could do with winning”, but that there will be no straightforward matches until the team find some confidence.

“Getting results at Goodison Park must be a priority now as a decent home record is surely the foundation for any campaign,” said Kennedy.
“And that’s why Saturday’s game is important – it’s another home game, this time against Bournemouth, a team who’ve now slipped into the bottom three. These are the games that Everton could do with winning.
“The Bournemouth game offers Everton a chance to pick up vital points, but only on paper. There will be no straightforward games until the team find some confidence at home. Only wins – and goals – will change that.”
Must win
In the bigger scheme of things, it’s not absolutely imperative for Everton to beat Bournemouth, but in terms of getting their home form on track, it could go down as a must-win game.
The Toffees haven’t played badly at Goodison so far this season, but they have lost all four of their matches and, barring the clash against Arsenal, they would’ve been fixtures they had earmarked for three points.
Bournemouth are one of just two sides that have failed to win a Premier League game this season, so you would think it’s the perfect opportunity to claim a victory in front of the home fans.

It would provide the Blues with a timely boost ahead of the international break, with Sean Dyche’s side facing a trip to Anfield to play Liverpool on 21 October.
It’s an important game for the manager as well because, although there hasn’t been too much talk about his position yet, questions will be asked if they can’t see off the Cherries this weekend.
