Sean Dyche sack decision at Everton made clear after ‘eternal truth’ 777 Partners vow

If Sean Dyche was not aware that his job as Everton manager was under threat beforehand, he certainly will be now after the open letter penned by 777 Partners.

In an 824-word piece penned for Everton’s official website on Saturday (7 October), 777 chief Josh Wander outlined the timeline for the proposed takeover, which he is “confident” will be ratified by the Premier League.

Wander also defended the American investment fund’s record at other clubs around the world, stating that “our success both on and off the pitch is clear to see”.

If Dyche was reading the letter in the build-up to the showdown with Bournemouth, one paragraph in particular would have stood out.

“Today, football clubs are much more complicated businesses than ever before, while remaining vital community assets,” Wander said. “But there is one eternal truth – we need to win matches.

“We can’t promise you that will happen immediately. We can promise you that we will instil a culture that demands and inspires two things: effort and accountability.

“That starts with Steve [Pasko] and I and includes every member of the organisation. We will seek to earn your approval through effort and accountability, creating a sustainable business and by putting a team on the pitch that respects the club’s proud heritage and reflects the character of the people who support it.”

Read between the lines there, and Wander is basically saying he is not afraid to hold certain people to account if Everton do not start winning games.

Winning games is certainly something Everton are struggling to do at the moment, having done so just once in seven top-flight outings this campaign ahead of hosting fellow strugglers Bournemouth.

Dyche is a man under pressure at Goodison Park, even more so if the result against Bournemouth does not go in his side’s favour.

And on the basis of what was said in that open letter, 777 appear ready to intervene and put their stamp on things if needs be.

In other Everton news, a journalist believes Dyche will be feeling “undermined” at Goodison Park.
