Everton manager Sean Dyche may have hammered final nail in coffin as one change made v Bournemouth
Everton manager Sean Dyche has made just one change to his starting line-up for the Premier League showdown with Bournemouth in a huge selection call that could backfire.
Many expected the under-fire boss to make a number of alterations on the back of last weekend’s 2-1 home loss to Luton Town, but that was not the case, as confirmed on their official Twitter page.
Instead, Jack Harrison was handed his full debut in place of Amadou Onana after coming off the bench for 45 minutes last week, potentially meaning a slight tweak in formation.
That means the likes of Ashley Young, Vitaliy Mykolenko and Idrissa Gueye can each consider themselves extremely lucky to keep their places in the side.
Dropping Onana and not Gueye is a big call, as is going with Young over the benched Nathan Patterson.
Dyche has also stuck to his guns and not gone with Beto up top alongside Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who once again leads the attack on his own.
With 777 Partners officials in attendance at Goodison Park on Saturday (7 October), Dyche knows that a defeat to fellow strugglers Bournemouth could well cost him his job.
Ultimately, it will not be until full-time against the Cherries that we will know whether Dyche’s team selection call has paid off.
You just hope for his sake that he does not live to regret retaining faith in certain players.
In other Everton news, 777 Partners appear to have made their sack stance on Dyche pretty clear in an open letter.
