Gary Lineker wowed by ‘cracking’ Jack Harrison after Everton win v Bournemouth
Gary Lineker was left wowed by Jack Harrison’s first Everton goal as the Toffees secured victory against Bournemouth in the Premier League.
Speaking on BBC Match Of The Day (7 October), the presenter hailed the Leeds United loanee who got his first Premier League goal for the Toffees in their 3-0 victory over the Cherries, helping them to 15th place in the table.
Lineker praised Everton for the “important” win but singled out Harrison’s outside-the-box effort that put the Toffees 2-0 ahead.

Lineker said: “Cracking finish it was too. A very important and impressive victory for Everton.”
Exceptional
Harrison’s strike was a delightful and courageous effort from outside the box. Amid their early season woes, many forgot about Harrison’s return from injury, and many did not expect him to have such a big impact so quickly.
The loanee from Elland Road made his mark on his debut. While he did not get a goal, he looked dangerous as the Toffees took out Aston Villa 2-1 in the League Cup. But on his second Premier League appearance for Everton, he proved most effective.
Per FBRef, Harrison is already generating 5.16 shot-creating actions per 90, the second highest in the Everton squad. While his sample size is smaller than most of his teammates (1.4 90s played), it reflects the instant impact he’s had since coming into the side.
Harrison has the minerals to be a very effective player for Sean Dyche this season. Bournemouth did not look very convincing across the 90 minutes, but the Toffees’ excellent play did the Cherries few favours.
Goodison Park fell silent as Harrison’s attempt glided over the whole Bournemouth side before the ball clipped the underside of the crossbar, which was the fans’ cue to go crazy.
And understandably crazy. The Luton Town defeat was a tough pill to swallow and three points dropped no matter how you cut it. The Cherries were another relatively easy challenge to get points on the board, and the often relaxed Dyche would have been very relieved at full-time.
In other Everton news, a condition has now emerged on Sean Dyche being sacked amid trouble behind the scenes at Goodison Park.
