Garth Crooks awestruck by ‘spectacular’ Jack Harrison, makes goal prediction for Everton star

Garth Crooks has raved about Jack Harrison after what he did for Everton in their victory over Bournemouth on Saturday (7 October).

The BBC pundit included the 26-year-old in his Premier League team of the week after he netted a “spectacular” goal to open the scoring for the Toffees in the 3-0 win at Goodison Park.

He added that the English winger is a “good addition” to the Blues side and that 10 goals a season isn’t too much to ask for a “player of his ability”.

“The goal by Jack Harrison was spectacular,” said Crooks. “But I can’t understand why Bournemouth’s goalkeeper Neto selected to punch the previous delivery into the box when it was infinitely easier to catch it.

“By Neto keeping the ball alive it presented Harrison with the opportunity to score. Harrison is a good addition to the Everton squad, but having observed him when he played for Leeds I don’t think 10 goals a season is too much to ask for a player of his ability.

“Harrison is now amongst players and an Everton crowd that might bring the best out of him. After the debacle against Luton, Everton, and in particular Sean Dyche, desperately needed the victory.”

Difference maker

There is no doubt that Harrison is certainly a difference maker and Everton’s recent turnaround in form has come after his return from injury.

It was an exceptional piece of skill from the winger to find the back of the net from a position where he really had no right to score from.

He was unfortunate to not grab a second against Bournemouth after he saw his header cleared off the line by a defender before Abdoulaye Doucoure scored on the rebound.

It was a huge win for the Toffees and lifts some of the pressure that had built up again on the back of the defeat to Luton Town.

The Blues now have a three-point gap on the sides in the relegation zone, meaning they can rest a little easier during the international break and look to pick up where they left off in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool in a couple of weeks.

In other Everton news, the club are set to make a “serious” move to sign a midfielder in the New Year.
